We are all about teaching and learning!

Swayneville State School strives for excellence in multi-age pedagogy, enabling excellence in student engagement to maximise student learning outcomes and operating within a supportive, inclusive, respectful and disciplined school environment.

Each year our school uses our school data to inform our teaching and learning.  We then determine what our school improvement agenda is.  For 2016, the focus is:

1. Effective pedagogical practises. (How teachers teach effectively.)

2. Students showing relative gain. (The steady progress that all our students make.)

For the full School Improvement Priorities, complete with explaining details and actions, please view the Forms and Documents pages.  It is uploaded there. Our selected school curriculum documents are also available on this page.

Our school ensures the quality of learning by:

  • Providing a good grounding in the basics - the essentials for the child to have the opportunity to utilise full potential.
  • Supporting teachers' professional endeavours.
  • Believing that parent involvement in education is essential for the child's development.
  • Believing parents and teachers have a joint responsibility in providing for the development of the child's social, emotional, physical and academic potential.

Our school community believes:

  • In supporting caring teachers who are willing to co-operate with parents in the development of their child.
  • In providing programs catering for individual differences.
  • In encouraging an awareness and respect of other's feelings and an acceptance of individual differences.
  • In providing a learning environment where children are given opportunities to accept responsibility for their own learning.
  • In providing real life learning opportunities and resources to enhance the child's education.

In developing the child's self-esteem.

  • That the parent's positive involvement in education is necessary for the development of the child's full potential - socially, emotionally, physically and academically.
  • In encouraging children to "have a go".
  • In respecting the needs of the students and community.
  • In encouraging common sense values in students.
  • In encouraging good manners, speaking and dress.
  • In encouraging sportsmanship and working as a team in and out of the class.
  • In a positive atmosphere where all work together to ensure the child can achieve to his / her full potential.
