Our Year 6 and 7 students have had a very good start to the year. During this first term’s History unit we have explored many facets of life in Ancient Rome. Our students can tell you some very interesting things about the Roles of Men and Women in Ancient Roman Society; Slavery in Ancient Roman times; Ancient Roman Religious Belief Systems (including the long list of Gods and Goddesses); Children in Ancient Rome, and of course, Gladiators in Ancient Rome. Did you know that well-educated people from neighbouring lands were captured and used as Teachers, who were highly sought-after ‘SLAVES’? Our Technology unit for the term was designed to complement our History, and so we have had some amazing results from students demonstrating their understandings of Music in Ancient Roman Times, by designing and constructing a musical instrument (inspired by their choice of one from ancient times), using only items found around our homes.
