Friday 23th AUGUST 4 students represented our school as a "REEFGUARDIAN SCHOOL " at the Future Leaders Eco Challenge heldat the Sarina High Agricultural Centre. The day was full of funactivities to increase awareness of our environment. These activitiesincluded one of our students participating with Greg the Shark to demonstrate adaption. We were amongst the first to view the High school's new aquariums, which included Nemo - much to the students delight. Student also got to pat the starfish and sea slug. After morning tea, we planted trees with Sanna Landcare at the centre. These will create much needed shade for the livestock in future years and assist with drainage. We got to visit with the goats after our hard work. After lunch which included fresh salad from the hydroponic gardens at the AG centre, and fresh eggs from the chooks,it was time to see how all this was grown. Aquaculture was also part of this process. Finally it was the worm farm, which was of particular interest to our studenis as the 5-6-7 room are starting their own worm farm. One student even made the Seven Nightly News. Well-done girls! Your behaviour and participation in the day's activities were something to be very proud of.
